My girlfriend and I needed quality food and we needed it cheaply. This restaurant rose to the occasion. We went inside the restaurant and ordered. I must admit, the ambiance was a little off-putting. It looks like they tried to cover up how run down the place looks by putting decorations on the walls. It just feels... dirty. Also don't use the bathroom unless you absolutely have to. While that doesn't sound like a great start to a four star review, the food was delicious. It was fresh, flavorful, and not too greasy! I had the Pa Ram Jae, she had the Pad Thai, and we split the fried tofu and the mango sticky rice - all for $30! Very good food. I must admit it isn't the best Thai food I have ever had, but I do live in Portland, OR - that's about as authentic Thai food will get in the U.S. Altogether, this restaurant really hit the spot. I just recommend calling ahead and picking up or ordering for delivery instead of sitting down. Everything was very satisfying and we even had a lot of leftovers! We'll definitely come back again.

They never pick up their phone! You may have to stay the course and hear ringing for a few minutes before anyone will pick up. Pick-up for 3 entrees took just 15 minutes. The food is on par with typical Thai food. Lunch special runs at $7.50 with an "appetizer" which is literally one piece of fried roll or two small dumplings or 3 pieces of tofu.

So they get 1 star for awesome food. They lose a star for forcing me to sit in this sauna. They lose another star for making me point to my order because she was FOB. But lucky for me I can't add, so they get 4 stars.

Solid Thai food in a carry out setting. People eat in here but I wouldn't. The food is always good every time we've ordered. We've ordered pad Thai, drunken noodles, curries, pad kapow, pad pik king, Tom yum soup, papaya, some seafood dish that has a lot of lemongrass (I do not like) .. And prob a few other dishes. The prices are kinda high imo but maybe that's just me.. You can expect each entree to cost about 13$. I really like the Tom yum soup with chicken but I couldn't justify spending that much money on it.. Papaya is always on point. Everything we order is always on point. Consistency. There is this dish that I've ordered twice, that, I don't like but it's because I don't like the lemongrass sauce. I'm subtracting a star because this place needs to be kept cleaner. The whole right side of the place is sloppy and dirty. The cashier /ordering area is sooooo messy. There are things everywhere. Looks awful. It kinda scares me because if that's what's seen by the naked eye, imagine the areas customers can't and don't see. It looks like the people don't keep up with the place at all. We order from here often because it's the only Thai place near my house and the food is consistently good. I hope they take care of their kitchen better than the front of the house.

Best Thai food in the area. Summer rolls and chicken satay are excellent. Highly recommended.

Food is very good, but the place is not. Prices are average. Bad news: This isn't a place you want to go for a romantic night or a date. Walls are scraped up, tables are tattered, and the floor is dirty. We did see one roach crawling underneath a table beside us. So don't come here for the ambience. They need a good deep cleaning of this place immediately, but they may be holding off because people still come here for the tasty food (see below). Good news: The food we ordered was very flavorful and spicy enough for the liking of 5 Indian men. We started with the Chicken Lemongrass soup (Tom Yum) and it was YUM. We got it extra spicy and it really hit the spot. I would certainly order this again, especially if I'm feeling sick or have a sore throat. It would really open those nasal passages up. We ordered a few dishes (Chicken Pad Thai, chicken in green curry, pineapple fried rice (no shrimp) and beef drunken noodles). The best dish was the Beef Drunken Noodles by far! Get this. I would go here again just for the drunken noodles. Better than Yo Yo Cafe's drunken noodles in my opinion. Surprisingly, the second best dish was the pineapple fried rice. It had a great flavor. The pad Thai was average. Nothing special. I didn't like the green curry, but I don't normally like the green curry. The person that ordered it said it is usually much better, but today it wasn't as good. Overall, I would say eat here if you can look past the untidy place. Maybe order take-out instead of dining in. But you MUST try the drunken noodles. It might take a couple of tries to get it to your spice / non-spice level.

The food is delightful. Quite flavorful without being overpowering. The decor is barebones bit that's how I like it. Staff is very friendly. Great prices for a quality Thai meal. Lunch special is only $7.50, can't beat it

There is no AC. Some guy comes out of the kitchen rolling a big trash container through the diner area and the front door then walks back in! Where is the health department.

Came here for lunch once and thought their lunch specials were a great deal. I got the 2-chili pepper *"thai spicy* green curry and it was both sweet and a great depth of spice. I had thai iced tea which helped to take away some of that spiciness. I may ask for less sugar or half n half next time. It's a cute little place. I worry about the restaurants in this shopping center because it's so dead (and doesn't face the main road). Wouldn't hesitate to come back!

The straw that broke the camel's back, as they say. We had become regulars after finding this little hidden place over a year ago. Decent prices, good food, good service-what's not to like. Now we've had a small disappointment with their (defrosted) desserts before, but nothing like today. Our usual mixed veggies dish had very old green beans in it, which is already very bad, but their reaction to our bringing it to their attention was worse. They basically said it wasn't their fault we just didn't like it and wouldn't do a refund or anything! There were BROWN spots all over some of them. This is a deal breaker, Siriwan. I'm not serving food that can possibly make my family sick. Hope that $12.95 was worth losing more business.

Great food every single time. Great service. very polite and courteous service. The place could use some heat in winter time, but there is always the take out option. I would eat there every day if i could. Happy Customer !!

Daaag, first time I didn't have to doggy-bag a curry. Ordered the Roasted Duck in Curry and wow, was it good. I really love that play on sweet and savory, so this dish hit the spot. Just the right amount of sweet pineapple with the crispy duck with the fresh aroma of Thai basil at the finish. I highly recommend this dish. Git it.

  • Ijene L.

Crispy basil duck was delicious. Atmosphere could've been better. I was gonna eat in but decided on carry out as I walked in. Drunken noodle was not my favorite thing and was bummed they don't have yellow curry. Would go back for carry out.

I would give Siriwan a 3.5 overall. We've been here twice now and both times dined inside. It's clear that most of their food is for takeout as there are only a few tables inside. The most redeeming quality to this restaurant is that the food is inexpensive, some of the cheapest you'll find. The dishes are a bit uneven, some are better than others. You'll have to try a few things and find the ones that work best for you. If I lived closer, I would order takeout here regularly.

Reliably authentic Thai food cooked to order. Great prices both lunch and dinner. Owner is always there, so you know what you are getting so far as quality etc. I eat here at least 3-4 times a month.

    (4)
  • Sammy A.

Duck dishes here are pretty damn good, the bulk of my stars are dedicated simply to how they prepare their duck. Everything else was ok. Atmosphere/decor is kinda dead so I def recommend delivery or carry out.

We decided to come here for dinner after seeing an ad in the mail. Surely enough this is the closest Thai restaurant to our home that we would come back to - perhaps for carry out. On the particular day we went the restaurant was empty and we were the only dining in customers for a while. It wasn't until towards the end that one more couple came in to dine. Multiple customers came in to carry out though. We dined around 7-8 timeframe so it was a bit surprising there weren't that many people dining. Regardless, service was nice. We weren't sure who was the actual server since the initial guy that welcomed us and sat us (who also sat at the counter) never followed up with us after he took our order. It was another lady - perhaps the cook or owner?? that checked on us, brought out the food and refilled our drinks. We ordered: Crispy Basil Duck - crispy and lots of duck meat, yummy Pad Thai - good typical Soft Shell Crab - 2 delicious crabs, yummy A seafood dish (can't remember the name) - dish has the same vegetables as the crispy basil duck and scant amount of seafood for the price we paid for the dish, tasted good but not worth the price. Overall, good food that was reasonably priced. Out of the 4 dishes we ordered probably won't order the 4th again but would come back again. Will most likely carry out next time.

Love the Ka Pow chicken! I get it only "American spicy". I ordered it medium spicy the first time and it was pretty hot. It was still yummy, I just had to wipe my nose after every other bite because it was running from the heat :). The fried wrapped shrimp appetizer (angel something?) is great as well. The pad see ew is pretty good too. I didn't care for the taofu family very much. The shrimp were greasy and the sauce to tofu ratio was a bit off. While the sauce was tasty, there wasn't enough, so I ended up eating a lot of plain tofu. Overall I really like the food here and look forward to trying more items from the menu. If I can ever bring myself to not order the Ka Pow. ..doubtful ;)

Great service, great food, great times! Just got back from a dinner here with four friends. One person was running late and we were at the restaurant for well over 2 hours - the staff was VERY pleasant and VERY polite. The food was delicious (as always (I've eaten here before)). Authentic Thai taste. The Thai iced tea is a MUST. This is the kind of place where I always end up tipping above and beyond for the wonderful service. It's easy to miss from the road if you don't know where to look (but all the best places seem to be this way).

  • Ann A.

I ordered the crispy basil duck which was quite good but ran a bit on the pricey side ($15.95). I also ordered the chicken satay which was ok for the price ($4.95) but the watery peanut sauce was a disappointment. Overall my experience was far from bad, but expected more for the price.

  • Em V.

The food is always good and the delivery never takes too long. I've always done pick up or delivery, never really sat and ate there. But certain foods are pretty pricey. They advertise by putting out coupons so remember to look out for those savings!

My wife and I have enjoyed Thai food for nearly twenty years, and in many different cities over the course of that time. Although Siriwan Thai looks unassuming, being located in a strip mall, we both agree it is among the best Thai restaurants we have encountered. The food is delicious, the noodle dishes are generally cooked just right, and their portions are generous. Prices are also reasonable. We have introduced it to several friends and they all have made it their regular choice when they want to eat Thai.

  • Devida N.

I ordered Ka Prow beef, Red Curry chicken, mango and sticky rice and Thai tea. They delivered my food beyond their boundaries! The Thai tea was very good, however the Ka Pow beef was just tasty but not the best I've had, sorry to say that the mango was a little brown and the sticky rice tasted old.

I found this place on Yelp after I had cravings for some Pad Thai. It was good. Not bad..but I think I will stick with driving further into Silver Spring and going to Thai at Silver Spring.

This is my go-to Thai place that is no frills, convenient, and consistent in quality. Venue itself is small and divey but parking is ample in a relatively empty shopping center. They are the ONLY Thai place in a several mile radius.. so thank goodness they're good! Again, this place is no frills, and pretty to the point. It's not a fancy spot you'd take a date, but their dishes don't disappoint. Prices are average. Food quality is good. Decent portion sizes for the most part, but their grilled beef salad (while delicious), feels overpriced at $7.95 for the portion they give. Tips: - You can add extra noodle to a dish for a dollar or two, which makes it enough for 2 people, easily. - Sometimes the person taking the phone orders has limited English proficiency and can be difficult to understand, so be prepared for that. - They consistently offer coupons in local community flyers and coupon booklets so keep your eye out for those if you live close by. - Carry out is suggested due to the lack of ambiance and low key dining area. Server service may be slow if there are a few people since it always seems to be one person taking care of all the tables.

I went for lunch today. I was the only customer. The food took a reasonable amount of time considering I'm pretty sure that they started from scratch when I ordered. The waiter was fine. The inside of the restaurant was pretty nice. The lunch special price was 7.50 including a spring roll. Considering the size of the spring roll, I'm surprised they don't give you two, and the roll itself wasn't very fresh. Still, I considered it a free add on to my main course, so Im not complaining. The main course was very good, and the portion size was right for a lunch special. Overall I am pleased and I will go again.

I'm still keeping Siriwan at 3.5 stars, but towards the 4 on the spectrum. I recently had their green curry and it was very good, as was the panang I had recently. Portions are generous, curry on point, and veggies are fresh. Good work, Siriwan.

Came here Friday 7pm. We ordered crying tiger, fried tofu, drunken noodle seafood and soft shell crab. All the food were really good but the service a little slow. We got the restaurant.com gift certificate so we have to dine in. The restaurant is not as cold as last time we were there we got space heater next to our table :) for the comment below about restaurant not taking credit card if you using restaurant.com gift certificate. It's does said on it that valid for cash only.

I'm going to give five stars because for what it its - a suburban Thai takeout place - it's really good. I recommend the Ka Prow, Pineapple rice, Pad Thai, drunken noodles, even the steamed rice. Wait a minute, that's everything I've ever tried there! I haven't been disappointed by anything yet? C'est possible? The best thing about this Thai place is that the owner (?) looks a lot like Chinese Buddha. Okay Thai Buddha looks more like Gandhi (judging by the picture on the wall) but still it does give a sense of authenticity. The second best thing is the lunch specials are $7.50! Yello! Less than Wendy's, these days. And, even though I called it a "takeout" place they do have a fairly elegant little dining room making dining in an option, though I wouldn't go there for date night.

I've been hoping to find a good thai restaurant outside of DC or Baltimore and was excited to see the good reviews for Siriwan. I left underwhelmed. The food was mediocre and the atmosphere was very dated.

Fantastic food and great portions! Friendly and fast service too! I've been here twice now and have tried many dishes. The tilapia was very good, and my favorite in the area (and there are many good thai restaurants around...). I've also had the tom yum soup, and well, this is about the same everywhere. I love though. The pad sea ew is also one that's hard to mess up. It's hard for me to say if this one is better or worse than others I've had, but the portion is definitely larger. The beef was very tender too. I can't remember the name of the last dish I ordered, but I loved the dipping sauce. It was a starter dish, "Tiger" something I think... I posted a picture of it. I loved it. Everything I ordered is worth me ordering again-- I'll definitely be back.

  • Nousheen N.

The food is great here! I get the crispy basil duck and the yum woonsen regularly, but I've tried other dishes like the parang curry and their delicious too. I haven't tried a dish I haven't liked. The only downside is sometime you have to wait a bit, even if you order pickup and delivery (which is why I am giving it 4 stars), but it's the best Thai food for miles!

Siriwan Thai was okay. The ambiance felt like a thai place in the making. Not quite complete yet. It was like a store inside a strip mall that then decided it would be a restaurant. Everything looked rather...amateur. Not that there was anything bad(roaches, ugly decorations, dirty floors, etc.) but just more that it wasn't what you would think a "real" restaurant should look like. No matter though - I ordered carry out. I will say that I am a fan of 2.5 of the 5 things I ordered. Ordered carry out from this suburban thai place located at the Cloverly shopping center where Briggs Chaney meets New Hampshire Ave. It was Saturday around noon-ish when we placed our order and they said they would take 20 minutes. Well it took 30 almost 40. No worries, its a Saturday and we were in no rush. Anyways, our order consisted of: Thai Iced Tea Tom Yum Soup (Mushroom) Mussaman Curry Honey Ginger Duck 3 Chili and Garlic sauce fried Tilapia. Price wise it was fair if not a dollar or two more than standard fair. ~ Thai Iced Tea - a very standard Thai Iced Tea ~ Tom Yum Soup - we split among 4 people - okay but not worth 8 bucks. Maybe get the small with chicken/shrimp. Or go to the Asian market and get the soup base. ~ Mussaman Curry - definitely the worst of the bunch. everything was cooked to the same consistency. you couldn't taste any chicken and the potatoes and peanuts inside of the curry were mush. ~ Honey Ginger Duck - the highlight of the meal. served with peppers, onions, scallions the skin was crunchy and the meat was tender. very good. ~ 3 Chili and Garlic sauce fried Tilapia. The sauce was not what I expected and resembled very much a sweet and sour. The Tilapia itself was very tasty and fried until crisp and golden. However, it was a bit...luke warm like it had been fried then set aside to wait for the other food to finish cooking. The hotness "chili" rating on the menu is a bit misleading for Asian palettes. The Tom Yum soup was given two chilis and while full of thai spices was not necessarily "spicy" or hot. The same with the 3 chili and garlic sauce which was given a one chili rating and was something that I felt was not spicy at all. Anyways decent thai - if you're in a rush, make sure you confirm with them when the food would be available. skip the mussaman curry, tom yum soup, get the honey ginger duck!

Unfortunately I was disappointed. The cost is ok but if I wanted to add shrimp it is a huge difference. I did carry out. To get to the register I had to walk around three tables because the specials signs were blocking the way to it. Not very welcoming. I ordered some basic thai food. The tofu pad thai (under vegetarian dishes) had pork in it. The spring rolls are too small for the cost. The Tum Ka Kai soup was way to lemony. Should be able to taste the coconut milk and the spices more. Chicken satay was a little dry. Think I will stick with making the drive to Wheaton to Ruan Thai.

SHort version: If you enjoy real, authentic flavor lots of spice and fresh basil, COME HERE! God this place is amazing. I just recently moved to Southern California and while I'mback home visiting I had to come and have some Siriwan. For my good-bye party I literally ordered almost everyt dish on the menu to share with my family, and I called a day ahead to give this tiny dive-thai place a heads up. They were gracious and had my food prepared on time the next day- over 30 dishes! ( and they threw in some free thai teas and mango+ sticky rice ( maybe they recognized me from all the other times I came in, but thank you!!) Of course, the service might not be great, but its mainly a take out joint and you gotta take it for what it is Kevin P, you big snob. Compared to Thai Phoon, Tara Thai, Ruan Thai, and all the other thai places I've frequented, this place really packs in the flavor, spice, and will change anything they can to accommodate your needs. You can see the cooks in the back with hats and hairnets,, which i appreciate, and again, the food is fresh and oh so flavorful. Pros- - FOOD FAVORITES: Panang curry, Musselman Curry (sometimes they dont have it so call and ask), ka prao (pow) beef, SHRIMP CLAYPOT, garlic beef ( or chicken), pad thai, drunken noodles.... the list goes on. -prices are pretty good, and the lunch specials are dirt cheap -Appetizers- chicken satay, dumplings, and Tam yum & Tom Ka Kai - location- easy parking! -delivery (30 mile radius) -service- everyone is super friendly, and they threw in some free stuff when i made that huge order, they certainly didnt have to, but I really appreciated it as a repeat customer! CONS- -heating/cooling, dont take your grandma here she'd complain -service, not exactly speedy when you're dining in -crispy pork- got it once and it was super.....dry, but in all my visits thats been my only complaint.

Lots of duck meat in the crispy basil duck. Chicken Pad Thai far better than the normal fare. Overall? Yeah, I'll definitely be back.

Just ate here for lunch - I had Ka Pow, my wife had Drunken Noodles, and we shared spring rolls. We were both happy with the the food, and the service was fine (considering it was lunch on a Thursday). We'll be heading back to try some of the less familiar dishes. Definitely worth the visit.

We ordered some seafood dishes, steak and a noodle dish. The appetizers mabye OK at best. If the food was fresh and not overcooked, then my palette might have been in for a pleasant treat. The service was awful considering there was only two other people inside at the time. The heat was broken and it was very cold inside. I was still cold with my winter jacket on. It took a long time to bring the food out to us and one dish did not come out until we were just about done eating. One lady in our party watched us eat just about our entire meal before her dish was served. Nats were flying around and I had to keep swatting them away. Strange, since it's so cold inside. I am surprised by the ratings some have given this restaurant. I had expected a decent place, but found something else. There are several good restaurant nearby, so don't waste your time here.

This is going to be dangerous to my wallet. Less than two miles from home, they deliver, and really good. I tried the crispy tilapia with chili basil sauce. Perfectly cooked fish. Deep fried to a crispy crunch on the outside, tender inside, and not a bit of grease. The sauce was hot but also rich with flavor. Looking forward to trying more of the menu.

I always get their ka prow with green beans and love it! If you want to get it Thai spicy let them know. Minus 1 star when you eat in because it always seems like they don't have enough help. Great carry out and delivery experience though.

This is our third time getting take out here. Wonderful! The pad thai is addictive. Tonight we also had spicy eggplant with pork - amazing. The eggplant was velvety, and the flavor was terrific. We will definitely be back.

This place is best as carryout. Yelp rarely stirs me wrong, but oh this time I was not impressed. Went here after church Sunday evening. The reviews looked good as well as the menu. When we walked in there was only one other couple eating in the restaurant. The floors were filthy. The tables were dirty. Overall just not the cleaniest. There were 3 airconditioning units (coming out of the ceiling), 4 radiator heaters and what looked like a humidifier at the window. There was junk (soccer ball, books, bags, cleaning supplies, etc.) all over the counter, on the floors and on tables in the corner. Yes I am very observant and all within the first 5 mins of entering the building. My husband says "why are we eating here". So it is very hard for me to walk out of a place that I have sat down in. All I could respond and say was I heard the food was good. All the while thinking in my head.... I'm going to regret this. We placed our order and the food comes out promptly. The lady that took our order went to the bathroom at least 3 times while we were there in under an hour. Had me a little nervous, so much so I did not go to see the bathroom. I know by now you are thinking get to the food already. The food comes out it was good. I had a large portion of pad thai and my husband had a small portion of pad sewee. Food was okay. I could not get past the appearance of the restaurant. It was like they were there temporarily. If you know me I am big on cleanliness, at least don't let me see it. If I see it is dirty, makes me nervous about what I don't see. Bill was $30 for beer and two entrees. I think there were better places I could have spent my money.

It had been a while since I ate here. But I stopped by on the way home and picked up the Green Chicken Curry for dinner. It was fantastic!! Great rice. Very tasty green curry with lots of chicken. Spicy and a bit sweet, just the way I like it.

This is another place that probably should be getting more business than it is currently. They have a great menu and they deliver to a 3 mile radius. Unfortunately I live 5 miles away. If the menu says its spicy, believe it.

My husband and I go here all the time. Actually, we got my whole family to start eating dinner here. We love it. The people now know us and greet us very warmly when we walk in. It's a nice feeling so close to Washington DC to still feel like a small town. Anyway, we love the food. We have never ordered anything that we didn't like. It looks like a family owned business, so that may explain why people complain about service being slow - but they work very hard and try and make your experience enjoyable. It's a good place to bring kids - they are very welcoming to families and I feel the prices are very good. I agree, restaurant.com has a great coupon to use if you want to check this place out! It's also nice to go to a locally owned restaurant instead of "chain food."
